Sports Massage
You don't need to be an athlete to benefit from sports massage. While it targets areas of the body strained from strenuous or repetitive movements, making it especially useful for event training or injury recovery, sports massage can benefit everyone. If you spend long hours at a computer, sit or stand for extended periods, or drive long distances, a targeted sports massage could be just what you need. Increased joint mobility and range of motion by reducing soft tissue tension Encourages muscle relaxation that can increase muscle flexibility Helps with the relief of tightness, stiffness, spasms and restriction in the muscles and tissues Increases and improves circulation and eliminates waste toxins, aiding recovery Encourages healing of soft tissue and the breakdown of scar tissues and adhesions. Many people believe that sports massage has to be painful to be effective, but that's not always the case. While we do work deep into the muscles, we ensure they're properly warmed up before using targeted techniques.
Holistic Massage
Holistic massage is a therapeutic approach that treats the whole person, addressing not only physical tension but also mental and emotional well-being. It integrates various techniques, including Swedish and deep tissue massage, utilizing long, flowing strokes, kneading, and circular movements to promote balance. The goal is to restore harmony within the body, mind, and spirit. Holistic massage takes into account factors like stress, lifestyle, and emotional state to customize the treatment to each individual's needs. While it is known for its calming and relaxing effects, ideal for stress relief and muscle relaxation, it can also be invigorating, depending on your needs for the day. Ultimately, this treatment improves circulation, reduces muscle tension, relieves stress, and promotes a sense of overall well-being and healing. A full-body massage typically lasts 90 minutes, but can be shortened to 60 minutes depending on your needs. The session begins with you lying on your front, where the therapist will warm up your back muscles and focus on your shoulders, neck, lower back, and the back of both legs, including the often-overlooked feet. Afterward, you'll turn over for a massage of the front of the legs and arms, and again overlooked hands, followed by a soothing neck, face, and scalp massage—pure bliss! A 45-minute massage offers a great balance between relaxation and targeted relief. In 30 minutes, a focused, targeted massage can be performed on specific areas of tension or discomfort.
Hot Stone Massage
Hot stone therapy in massage involves the use of heated stones, typically basalt stones, which are placed on specific points of the body or used by the therapist to massage the muscles. The heat from the stones helps to relax the muscles, increase circulation, and promote a sense of deep relaxation. The warmth also helps to ease tension and pain in the muscles, making it particularly beneficial for those dealing with chronic pain, muscle stiffness, or stress. Hot stone therapy is easily combined with other massage techniques for a more soothing and therapeutic experience. Hot stones can be placed on targeted areas of the body to help relax the muscles. The heat from the stones allows the muscles to loosen, which enables us to work on other areas more effectively. When we return to the muscle under the stone, it’s already relaxed, allowing us to target deeper layers more efficiently and quickly. We also offer cold stone therapy, using stones typically made of marble or other smooth, cool materials to provide therapeutic benefits. The cold temperature helps constrict blood vessels, reduce inflammation, and provides an analgesic effect. This is especially effective for headaches when placed on the temples and is fantastic for tightening puffy, tired eyes.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage
Manual lymphatic drainage is a gentle, rhythmic technique designed to stimulate the flow of lymph and reduce swelling. Using precise, light pressure and carefully sequenced movements, it opens the initial lymphatics and encourages lymph vessel contraction. This specialised treatment supports the lymphatic system, which plays a key role in fluid balance, circulation, and immune function. Lymph—a fluid containing water, proteins, immune cells, and metabolic waste—is filtered through lymph nodes located throughout the body, particularly in the neck, armpits, and groin. During times of stress or illness, lymph nodes can become enlarged, causing the flow of lymph to slow down and accumulate. Damage to the lymphatic system, including poor flow or drainage, increases inflammation and contributes to metabolic changes in the body that influence the disease process. When lymph moves freely through the body, it supports optimal metabolic function, reduces inflammation, and helps prevent the onset of chronic conditions. During treatment, a trained therapist applies slow, flowing movements such as gliding, compressing, stretching, and cupping. These techniques are performed without oil to avoid compressing the delicate lymph vessels, allowing lymph to move freely through tissues and nodes. The massage follows a specific sequence to ensure fluid doesn’t become trapped and every area is addressed effectively.
